AGH 112 - Introduction to Turfgrass Management Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course is an introduction to discussing the establishment and maintenance practices used on turfgrasses, including plant classification, plant characteristics, warm and cool-season grasses, soils, and selection of turfgrasses for a site. Students will learn how to apply principles and practices involved in the successful maintenance of turfgrass areas.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
Identify the benefits of turfgrass and proper management.

Identify and explain proper care for Iowa native cool-season, warm-season, and ornamental grasses.

Describe the different career opportunities available in the turfgrass industry.

Properly organize a Sports Turf Management program and present the information.

Understand management techniques for sod production, golf courses, and lawn care businesses.
