This course deals with the principles of insurance coverage used in the farm business and other risk management tools available to production agribusiness professionals. This course also presents the fundamental principles and strategies of a diverse risk management portfolio including crop insurance, liability issues and personal finance.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Evaluate the nature of risk and risk bearing.
Explain the importance of the insurance industry as an institution.
Demonstrate competence with insurance contracts dealing with property, liability, life and health insurance.
Demonstrate knowledge of the fundamentals of crop insurance programs, personal finance and strategic tax planning.
