AGB 280 - Business Law for Agriculture

This course applies business law to the retail agribusiness setting. The course will focus on the legal and social environment of business, contracts, personal property and bailments, sales and leases of personal property, negotiable instruments, debtor-creditor relations and risk management, agency and employment, business organizations, and real property. This course will also address the legal, liability, risk management and security issues of a modern corporate or retail agribusiness. Specific laws will be addressed pertaining to the products and services a business represents.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify laws that impact the retail agribusiness sector related to input supplies. 
  • Complete licensure applications specific to the input supply segment of agriculture.
  • Identify strategies to manage risk at a retail business.
  • Determine taxable events.
  • Assess the resources of a business with regard to legal and liability issues.
