This course covers the biology of monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous seeds and seedlings, germination and seedling establishment, germination testing, certification, seed laws, seed purity and quality, variety selection, inoculation and seed treatments.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Identify factors that affect seed germination and seedling emergence.
Identify conditions that affect seed quality as it applies to agronomic crops of Iowa and Illinois.
Interpret yield test results.
Identify the steps and purpose in seed treatment.
