ADN 451 - Health System Concepts

This course is designed to further develop the concepts within the three domains of the individual, healthcare, and nursing. Emphasis is placed on the concepts of grief/loss, violence, health-wellness illness, collaboration, managing care, safety, advocacy, legal issues, policy, healthcare systems, ethics, accountability and evidence-based practice. Upon completion, students should be able to provide safe nursing care incorporating the concepts identified in this course.

Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C or higher in   and   .

Corequisite(s): Completion of or concurrent enrollment in ADN 302  and BIO 186 .

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Develop knowledge of concepts within the domain of the individual.

  • Provide safe, culturally competent, therapeutic nursing care to individuals.

  • Safely and ethically execute the management of therapeutic nursing care within the healthcare system for individuals.
