ADI 330 - Sonography Interpretation and Critique

This course provides students the opportunity to study concepts essential to quality patient care and sonographic exam performance. A wide variety of case studies will be presented and critiqued with emphasis on identification of normal anatomy, recognition of pathologic processes, and technical exam quality. Pathology-specific clinical history and physical assessment, imaging protocols and formulation of a preliminary exam interpretation will be discussed.

Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in ADI 345 ADI 346 , and ADI 860 .
SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Obtain a relevant clinical history and physical assessment of a patient.

  • Differentiate between pathological conditions based on clinical history, physical assessment of the patient, and sonographic findings.

  • Evaluate the technical quality of sonographic exams.

  • Apply any modifications to system controls necessary to produce an image of diagnostic quality.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in recognizing normal and abnormal sonographic patterns on exams.

  • Compose a relevant clinical history and preliminary exam interpretation for submission or presentation to the interpreting physician.
