This course provides an overview of performance improvement as it pertains to health information management. Topics include the history and development of quality management in healthcare, utilization management, risk management, and compliance with organizational and external regulations and standards. Additional topics include the use of graphic tools for monitoring, reporting, improving processes, and data presentation. This course replaces HIT-440.

Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C- in HIT 355, HIT 415, HIT 422, and HIT 485.
