This course will introduce the student surgery and anesthesia as it pertains to veterinary medicine.

Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in AGV 119, AGV 127, AGV 131, and AGV 146.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Prepare a patient for anesthesia and surgery.
Describe what equipment is used to anesthetize a patient.
Describe how to provide a safe anesthetic workplace.
Describe basic strategies of feline and canine anesthesia.
List preoperative room and patient considerations.
Define asepsis.
Describe steps in cleaning the operating room postoperatively.
