AGV 248 - Surgery and Anesthesia for Vet Techs Credit(s) 2.00 Lecture Hours: 1.50 Lab Hours: 1.00 This course will introduce the student surgery and anesthesia as it pertains to veterinary medicine.
Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in AGV 119 , AGV 127 , AGV 131 , and AGV 146 . SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Prepare a patient for anesthesia and surgery.

Describe what equipment is used to anesthetize a patient.

Describe how to provide a safe anesthetic workplace.

Describe basic strategies of feline and canine anesthesia.

List preoperative room and patient considerations.

Define asepsis.

Describe steps in cleaning the operating room postoperatively.
