The Cancer Information Management (CIM) program provides instruction to work in the field of Cancer Information Management within cancer centers, hospitals, government agencies, and pharmaceutical companies. CIM workers manage, analyze, and maintain clinical cancer information databases that are used in research, quality management, facility planning, program development, and compliance.

Health Information Management
Graduates of the Health Information Management will be eligible for entry level positions in a physician’s office, hospital setting, health insurance organization or coding company. The program is offered in an online setting, except for the Professional Practice Experiences, which require a student to be available on site at a healthcare organization working with Health Information Management professionals.

Dental
Dental Assisting
A Dental Assistant performs a wide range of tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. These individuals help the dentist at chairside and can perform functions such as polishing teeth, taking and developing dental radiographs, mixing materials, and sterilizing instruments. Some assistants also manage the office and patient accounts, schedule appointments, and purchase supplies.

Dental Hygiene
Through a unique partnership with Carl Sandburg College, located in Galesburg, Illinois, students can complete some of their courses at Clinton, Muscatine or Scott Community College and transfer them to Carl Sandburg College. Students attend Dental Hygiene (DHG) courses in Galesburg and pay the Carl Sandburg College’s in-district tuition rate for these courses.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs prepare students for successful completion of the Iowa/National Emergency Medical Technician Basic and Paramedic certifying exams. The EMS program provides graduates with the tools to adapt to public expectations and to take leadership roles in the evolution of prehospital patient care.

Health Sciences
Through a Joint 2 + 2 Transfer Program agreement between EICC and Palmer College of Chiropractic, students complete the coursework necessary to meet the admission requirements established by the Palmer College of Chiropractic while earning an Associate of Arts degree.
Pre-Chiropractic Pathway
The Pre-Health Professional Pathway is for students seeking transfer into medical fields. Since, pre-health professional requirements vary depending on the transfer institution, it is important to plan your course selection carefully with both your community college advisor and your intended transfer institution. Students in this Pathway will complete an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree according to the requirements of their intended transfer institution.

The Veterinary Technician program prepares students to enter the job market as assistants to veterinarians. New technologies in anesthesia, laboratory equipment, diagnostic testing, and medical treatment have vastly improved animal care.

Medical assistants provide medical office administrative services and perform clinical duties under the supervision of physicians including patient intake and care, routine diagnostic and recording procedures, pre-examination and examination assistance, and the administration of medications and first aid.

Nursing
Nurses provide care for ill, injured, or convalescing patients or persons with disabilities in a variety of healthcare settings. Practical nurses work under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses. Practical Nursing graduates are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Licensed Practical Nurses. Registered nurses work to promote health, prevent disease and help patients cope with illness. Associate Degree Nursing graduates are prepared to take the NCLEX for Registered Nurses.

Radiologic Technology
The Radiologic Technology program prepares students to maintain and use the equipment and supplies necessary to demonstrate portions of the human body utilizing x-ray images for diagnostic purposes. X-ray technologists use radiation to make images of the body to aid radiologists in diagnosing a patient’s illness or injury.

Respiratory Care
Respiratory Care Practitioners care for patients with respiratory and cardiovascular conditions. Under the supervision of a physician, they are involved with the assessment, treatment, diagnostic testing, rehabilitation, and prevention of conditions that affect the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. The Respiratory Care program is available to our students through a cooperative partnership between (EICC) and Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC).

Sonography
The Sonography program prepares individuals who under the supervision of physicians, utilize medical ultrasound techniques to gather sonographic data used to diagnose a variety of conditions and diseases. The program includes instruction in obtaining, reviewing, and integrating patient histories and data; patient instruction and care; anatomic, physiologic, and pathologic data recording; sonographic data processing; sonography equipment operation; and professional standards and ethics.

Surgical Technology
A Surgical Technologist handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Surgical Technology graduates have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of procedures performed and can anticipate the needs of the surgeon in order to achieve a positive patient outcome. Graduates learn to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and be constantly vigilant for maintenance of the sterile field.
