Health Information Management, AAS


Campus: Online*

The Health Information Management (HIM) AAS is a 66 credit degree that can be completed in 5 terms. The HIM program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Graduates of the AAS are eligible to write for the national certification exam - Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) given by the American Health Information Management Association.

Graduates of the HIM AAS degree will be eligible for entry level positions in a physician’s office, hospital setting, health insurance organization or coding company. The program is offered in an online setting, with the exception of the Professional Practice Experiences, which requires a student to be available to be on site at a healthcare organization working with Health Information Management Professionals. There are two 96 hour Professional Practice Experiences scheduled throughout the program.

The Health Information Management Associate degree program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

*Students must complete two on-site practicums (HIT 355  and HIT 555 ) and will work with a program representative on finding an approved on-site location.
