Turf and Landscape, AAS

Campus: Muscatine Community College

The Turf and Landscape AAS provides graduates with the knowledge and skills to enter professional careers that include golf and sports turf management, landscape design, landscape installation, grounds maintenance, lawn care, garden center management and other green industry related careers. Additional value for students is created through hands on learning in a summer internship of paid on-the-job training. As a member of the National Professional Agricultural Student Organization (PAS) and National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) organization, the program offers students an opportunity to travel and compete nationally in competitive events and participate in networking and leadership opportunities.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Turf and Landscape program, students will be able to:

  1. Identify annuals, perennials, and woody trees and shrubs using both common and scientific nomenclature.
  2. Apply personal and technical skills in the horticulture industry.
  3. Apply design, install and maintain a landscape in the Midwest.
  4. Operate and maintain equipment currently used in the turf and landscape industries.
