SUR 526 - Clinical II Credit(s) 7.00 Lecture Hours: 0.50 Clinical Hours: 19.50 This course is a continuation of Clinical I and provides the student with advanced hands-on experience at a designated clinical site. Students will be participating in the following activities: preparation, aseptic technique, prioritization of duties, use of time, professional and personal habits, safety and ethical aspects, and skill set.
Prerequisite(s): Minimum grade of C in , , and . SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the responsibilities of the surgical technologist in the scrubbed role.
- Apply advanced knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment used in the operating room.
- Apply the knowledge learned relating to communication in the operating room.
- Develop appropriate aseptic technique and sterilization accountability.
