SUR 521 - Clinical I Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 1.50 Clinical Hours: 7.50 This course provides the student with an introductory hands-on experience at a designated clinical site. Students will be participating in the following activities: preparation, aseptic technique, prioritization of duties, use of time, professional and personal habits, safety and ethical aspects, and skill set.
Corequisite(s): Completion of or concurrent enrollment in and SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Develop an understanding of the responsibilities of the surgical technologist in the the scrubbed role.
- Apply knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment used in the operating room.
- Apply knowledge learned relating to communication in the operating room.
- Develop appropriate aseptic technique and sterilization accountability.
- Apply appropriate aseptic technique and sterilization accountability.
