AVR 245 - Particle Effects and Shaders Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 2.00 Lab Hours: 2.00 This course will give the students a strong foundation in particle effects and shader creation. Students will learn how to use proper script shaders and apply them to the game engine. We will cover various essential visual and other special effects heavily used in the industry. Students will have the knowledge and skills to work with green screens and other post processing tools to be applied to augmented and virtual reality applications.
Prerequisite(s): AVR 220 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Discuss why custom shaders are used.
- Justify when to use custom shaders.
- Produce custom shaders for the game engine.
- Discuss why particle effects are used.
- Justify when to use particle effects.
- Create particle effects for games and simulations.
- Optimize custom shaders and particle effects.
- Optimize code for the game engine.
