AGV 182 - Diagnostic Imaging

This course is designed to familiarize the student with the x-ray machine, darkroom, troubleshooting techniques, and radiation safety. Areas of emphasis will include technique failures, positioning, and standard diagnostic procedures. It will also introduce the student to digital radiography and ultrasound technologies.

Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in AGV 127  and AGV 131 .
SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Perform a quality radiograph of each body area on various animals.

  • Demonstrate the correction for film that is too light or too dark.

  • Demonstrate the process of eliminating artifacts from the film.

  • Demonstrate corrective actions for faulty x-ray machine and processor.

  • Employ the proper steps to limit exposure and ensure the safety of the radiology team.

  • Display x-ray films for interpretation by the doctor.
