LIT 110 - American Literature to Mid-1800’s Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course examines a diverse group of American authors writing in different genres from pre-Colonial times through 1865.Themes, philosophies, and styles in relation to their social and cultural contexts will be analyzed using basic critical approaches and introductory literary theory in class discussions and through writing. Topics include the impact of colonization on indigenous peoples, as well as the effects and experience of slavery and the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 105 or ENG 107
