AGP 420 - Geospatial Data Collection

This course introduces students to global positioning systems and how they can be used in collecting relevant agricultural data. Students learn about Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment, related field procedures, and preliminary analysis of GPS data. Emphasis is on GPS applications related to mapping and decision-making projects. The primary purpose is to demonstrate the various tools available in industry to assist Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialists, Precision Ag Technicians, Agronomists, and Soil Surveyors in collecting accurate field data. The most important equipment used in this course will consist of GPS receivers and devices for spatial data activities. 59.4 Lec. Hrs.
