PSY 226 - Psychology of Aging Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course studies aging in terms of four distinct, but interrelated processes: chronological aging, biological aging, psychological aging, and social aging. Discussion focus on the psychological and societal changes and needs of the elderly with an emphasis on the effects of, and adaptation to, changes in relationships, feelings of social importance, retirement, finances, physical health, and institutionalization. This course analyzes perspectives on adult development in the areas of emotional, cognitive, and personality development as they relate to death and dying in the end of life process. This course is cross listed as SOC 220.
Recommended and Non-Course Requisites: PSY 121 and SOC 110
