Building Construction Techniques II provides practical application of selected construction techniques. Students learn construction techniques in floor, wall and ceiling systems, stair construction and interior finishing skills.

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Describe the benefits of working in the home building industry.

  • Understand flooring techniques.

  • Prepare the process to install walls in a home.

  • Understand the use of a timeline for installing ceiling systems.

  • Investigate the process for installing an HVAC system.

  • Understand the assembly of a stairway in a home.

  • Evaluate the interior finishing skills.

  • Conclude the process of completing a finished house through hands-on experiences.

  • Identify the process of ordering supplies and materials for a home.

  • Prepare the exterior areas for landscaping, concrete and decking.

  • Examine the interior design selections.

  • Understand painting processes.

  • Demonstrate exterior applications - brick and siding processes.

  • Demonstrate basic construction principles used in the home building industry.
