Agriculture Education Transfer Major, AS

Campus: Muscatine Community College

Agriculture Education prepares students for teaching at the secondary level or working in the extension service. The transfer major in Agriculture Education is designed to provide a broad education with an emphasis in agronomy, soil science, math and the natural sciences, and liberal arts/humanities. This program is for students interested in transferring to a four-year institution with a major in Agriculture Education.

Transfer Institutions: Iowa State University. This institution may have additional requirements. Please see your advisor for more information.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Agriculture Education Transfer Major program, students will be able to:

  1. Identify management practices for livestock production. 
  2. Evaluate principles of plant life and agroecosystems. 
  3. Analyze the role of humans in agroecological systems. 
  4. Utilize communication and computer skills. 
  5. Demonstrate cooperative learning skills. 
  6. Demonstrate proper soil management principles.

Select one course from any two of the following categories.

PHI-105 and MUS-100 are recommended for the Agriculture Education (AS) Transfer Major.

Cultural Historical Perspectives (3 credits)


HIS-151 or HIS-152 are recommended for the Agriculture Education (AS) Transfer Major.
