Diesel Technology, AAS


Campus: Scott Community College

EICC’s Diesel Technology AAS is a NATEF certified two-year program to prepare students to pass ASE certification exams in the following eight areas: Brakes, Diesel Engines, Suspension & Steering, Drive Train, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning, and Preventive Maintenance Inspection. Graduates will also have effective communication and diagnostic skills.

Students may also begin this program in the spring term with slight modifications to the course sequence.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Diesel Technology program, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the use of appropriate tools and testing and measurement equipment required to accomplish certain Diesel tasks.
  2. Locate and use current reference and training materials from accepted Diesel publications and resources.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to complete the “Three C’s” (concern, cause, and correction) by interpreting diesel work orders and technical service bulletins to include information regarding problem resolution through the work performed for the customer and or manufacturer.
  4. Complete repair tasks in accordance with manufacturer’s recommended procedures and safety precautions as published.
