Cancer Information Management, AAS

Cancer Information Management (CIM) AAS is an online program designed for students with no previous AAS degree.

In addition to the general admission requirements of the college, applicants to this program must meet specific program admission and grading criteria. The application process and admission requirements for the CIM program can be found at www.eicc.edu/cim.

*Please note that students will be required to complete a practical experience with a Certified Tumor Registrar at a Cancer Registry site.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Cancer Information Management program, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of cancer registry organization structure, operations, and functions.
  2. Apply fundamental concepts of the oncology disease process incorporating diagnostic and staging procedures and treatment modalities with an emphasis on major cancer sites.
  3. Analyze documentation to identify and reports neoplasms, patient demographics, code diagnostic findings, and cancer information including primary site, histology, stage, and treatment.
  4. Conduct statistical analysis and prepare data presentations related to epidemiology, incidence, quality measures, and survival outcomes.
  5. Apply legal, ethical, accreditation, and certification standards to the cancer registry and demonstrate professional behavior in these areas.
  6. Participate in follow-up and data quality analysis and utilization to improve patient care.
