MFG 167 - Non-Destructive Evaluation Techniques Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 2.00 Lab Hours: 2.00 This course introduces the student to a variety of non-destructive testing methods that the college currently offers, including Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Testing, Radiographic Testing, Visual Inspection, and Ultrasonic Testing. Students will give a brief introduction of each technology with opportunities to have some hands-on activities. Arrangements will be made to visit local companies currently employing these technologies and time speak with the technicians. No
Prerequisite(s): or SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a basic knowledge level of each of the following non-destructive testing methods: liquid penetrant and magnetic particle testing, Radiographic Testing, Visual Inspection, and Ultrasonic Testing.
- Identify three companies using multiple non-destructive testing methods.
- Identify two discontinuities on a test part using at least two non-destructive testing methods.
