ADI 830 - Sonography Clinical Practicum I Credit(s) 7.00 Lecture Hours: 1.00 Lab Hours: 2.00 Clinical Hours: 15.00 Co-op Hours: 0
This course provides participants with 3-4 days per week of clinical experience in affiliate hospitals, clinics, and/or imaging centers. You will observe and gain introductory hands-on scanning experience on a variety of sonographic procedures under direct supervision of a staff sonographer. Lab work will center on ergonomic safety, building skills in basic abdominal imaging techniques, and identifying normal anatomy through pattern recognition. This course replaces ADI 800.

Demonstrate an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a sonographer.

Provide appropriate patient instruction, preparation, and care before, during, and after the sonographic procedure.

Perform selected basic sonographic examinations according to protocol established by the clinical affiliate he/she is assigned.

Demonstrate the adjustment of technical operating factors and scanning techniques to achieve optimum results.

Record image data to assure adequate demonstration of anatomy of interest.
