HON 927 - Honors Independent Study Credit(s) 1.00 - 3.00 Lecture Hours: 0.50- 1.50 Lab Hours: 1.00- 3.00 This course will give you the opportunity to collaborate with a faculty mentor to develop a research plan on a topic that is not normally covered in other classes. Over the course of this term, your mentor will offer advice and guidance as you independently research and learn about your chosen topic. Your work will culminate in a creative project or research paper, or some other form that is appropriate for your academic field. The details of the independent study must be determined in consultation with the faculty mentor and approved by the Honors Council at the beginning of the semester. Yes
Prerequisite(s): HON 110 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of a chosen topic by gathering, explaining, and summarizing information from independent research.
- Apply research and critical analysis skills to create, organize, and present a project appropriate to their field.
- Describe new questions, themes, or creative directions that extend their current project.
- Reflect on course experiences to compare, question, and revise their assumptions about their academic field and career goals.
