AVR 115 - 3D Modeling and Animation I

This course gives students a hands-on, example-based introduction to the modeling and animation used in creating three dimensional (3D) games and simulations. Students will use industry standard software such as Autodesk MAYA and Adobe Photoshop or other similar tools to develop 3D models and assets. Students are exposed to topics such as mesh modeling, rigging, skinning, character animation and texturing. This course replaces CIS 148.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Discuss 3D modeling software.
  • Identify appropriate software for 3D modeling applications.
  • Develop 3D models with computer software.
  • Enhance existing 3D models.
  • Analyze references for modeling.
  • Prepare references for modeling.
  • Generate UV Maps.
  • Create textures for 3D models.
  • Demonstrate intermediate mastery of animation of 3D models.
