SPC 101 - Fundamentals of Oral Communication Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course explores the fundamentals of oral communication theory and practice. In this class, you will survey the foundations and functions of communication styles within various communication contexts. Through analysis and demonstration, you will practice communication skills in a variety of communication styles, including: public speaking, interpersonal, intercultural, and small group communications. A variety of communication platforms will be utilized to help you prepare for personal and professional communication events.

SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze cultural communication theories and styles.
- Compare and contrast effective communication styles across a variety of mediums and platforms.
- Evaluate sources of communication conflict.
- Develop appropriate strategies to reduce conflict and communicate effectively within assorted communication contexts.
- Demonstrate effective listening, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills in both synchronous and asynchronous communication contexts.
