This course is designed to introduce the student to American contemporary business, its nature and environment. A survey course providing exposure to the social responsibilities of business, management, production, human resources, marketing, finance, quantitative methods, and world business law. Recommended to be taken early in business program. No

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain key economic concepts and how they affect business operations in domestic and global markets.

  • Apply ethical and legal reasoning to business decisions while considering responsibilities to stakeholders.

  • Differentiate forms of business ownership and basic entrepreneurial approaches.

  • Discuss management and leadership principles, including the functions of management and decision-making.

  • Demonstrate basic marketing principles related to the marketing mix (product, price, place, and promotion).

  • Explain how operations management and continuous improvement influence business performance.
