AUT 103 - Survey of Auto Technology

This course is designed to introduce the student to a variety of tasks and skills commonly used in the automotive technology repair field. Topics will include basic maintenance and electrical service; engine performance service; brake, tire, and wheel service; and gasoline engine operation and repair.

Corequisite(s): AUT 115  
SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic knowledge of automotive systems.

  • Perform basic electrical and mechanical maintenance service on cars and light trucks.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of gasoline engine operation and repair.

  • Perform a basic fuel system inspection.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of manual transmission operation and service.

  • Perform basic brake system service.

  • Perform basic tire and wheel service.
