ART 144 - Painting II Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 2.00 Lab Hours: 2.00 This course will have students work with a variety of painting media. The student is encouraged to pursue independent painting problems in depth, as well as assigned research areas. An expanded, in-depth study of color theory and composition is presented.
Prerequisite(s): ART 143 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Approach creativity with a critical mindset.

Apply a working understanding of several of the properties of various major paint media.

Demonstrate consistency in proper selection, use and care of painting tools, materials and surfaces.

Paint a range of subjects from direct observation.

Mix, apply and layer pigment to skillfully approximate the observed subject.

Demonstrate an increasing level of personal expression in painting.
