AGV 186 - Canine and Feline Behavior

This course will build a foundational understanding of small animal behavior, primarily canines and felines. Students will learn how to assist clients with choosing and training their pets. Techniques in preventing and resolving behavior problems will be discussed. Processes for maintaining a controlled veterinary office will be addressed.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Assist the client in preventing and resolving behavior problems in companion animals.

  • Identify communication signals and social behaviors of the companion animals.

  • Explain techniques used to handle and restrain animals more safely and humanely.
