AGV 118 - Animal Anatomy and Physiology I

This course introduces the student to the basic concepts of animal form, structure, and function. These concepts are then used to study the gross anatomy, microscopic anatomy, and physiology of the animal body. The lab section of the course will present an in-depth look at the gross anatomy of tissue types and organ systems to help the student understand how the body works as a machine.

Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in BIO 114 and CHM 122.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Articulate directional terms used in anatomy and physiology of animals.
Describe the chemical basis for life, the anatomy and physiology of the mammalian cell, and the relationship of the various body tissues.
Identify various skeletal, muscular, and integumentary structures and list their functions.
