This course will provide a general overview of turf maintenance and provide specific maintenance practices for all areas of athletic field maintenance.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Identify turfgrass species, soil and planting techniques, and turf establishment.
Calculate fertilizer and chemical application rates.
Perform mowing techniques, irrigation management, aerification, and topdressing.
Perform specific maintenance practices for the following sports fields: baseball/softball, football, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey.
Explain other sports surfaces such as: tennis courts, track and field facilities, and synthetic turf.
Provide field and turf assessments and safety practices.
Present a maintenance plan with cost estimates for an identified sports field.
