ITP 142 - Comparative Discourse Analysis Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course is designed to introduce students to discourse analysis theory and practice. Students will develop strategies to analyze texts in ASL and English which will improve their understanding of how context, identity, and culture impact communication.
Prerequisite(s): ITP 131 , ITP 141 , and a minimum grade of C- in ASL 171 and ASL 172 or ASL 181 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Define key terminology in the field of discourse analysis.

Describe building tasks in discourse.

Identify tools of inquiry used in discourse analysis.

Compare English and ASL discourse forms.
