CR 836 - Alcohol Policy


Eastern Iowa Community College District is committed to maintaining an academic and social environment conducive to the intellectual and personal development of students and to the safety and welfare of all members of the EICCD community. Therefore, the use of alcohol is governed by the following provisions:

 

  1. The laws of the State of Iowa regulating the purchasing, dispensing, possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages shall apply to all members of the college community. Each person shall be expected to abide by those laws and will be held responsible by civil law enforcement agencies for their own actions in any situation involving violations of the Iowa State laws regarding alcoholic beverages.
     
  2. Alcohol is permitted at the following types of organized, college-sponsored activities:

    A. On or off-campus events organized by college staff primarily for non-students, such as alumni, advisory councils, conferences and special ceremonies;

    B. Educational programs, such as wine tasting and mixology.
     
  3. All events where alcohol will be served are to be approved in writing on an event-by-event basis by the Executive Officer or their designee. EICCD shall adopt specific administrative guidelines to ensure the implementation of this policy.
