HSE 100 - Occupational Safety 3.00 Credit(s)
This course provides an introduction to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) regulations that pertain to protecting workers from exposure to occupational hazards. Students concentrate on researching, interpreting, summarizing, and applying the OSHA regulations. Students are introduced to a proactive philosophy of company compliance with OSHA regulations, with an emphasis on using specific approaches to providing a safe and healthful work environment. Additionally, through activities and exercises, students are introduced to procedures for conducting a chemical inventory, interpreting Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs), developing a written Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) program, and developing an effective HAZCOM training program. 59.4 Lec.
