This course is equivalent to fourth-level college German class. It is designed to complete the second-year of college German coursework through practices of methods and materials presented in Intermediate German I. Advanced examination of German culture using selected readings and multi-media presentations will aid the student in increasing speed and influence in the spoken language. Translation skills will be enhanced as well. Exams will test oral, cultural, comprehension and written skills.  No

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Recall the structure, grammar, vocabulary and idiomatic expressions from prerequisite course as needed.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the topics in the German speaking world including family structures and lifestyles, art, music, literature, the environment and natural catastrophes, technology surrounding energy sources, recycling, and home food production.
  • Practice grammar topics from the German speaking world including passive voice in present, past and future tense. 
  • Demonstrate writing topics from the German speaking world including formal writing and persuasive writing.
  • Demonstrate comprehension of Germanic literature, excerpts from novels, short stories, fiction, nonfiction and informational texts.
