This course is equivalent to a third-level college German class. It reviews the fundamentals of language communication and further improves on idiomatic usages, speaking and understanding. Readings and multimedia presentations on German culture, current events and literary offerings are integrated in texts and assignments. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Recall the structure, grammar, vocabulary and idiomatic expressions from prerequisite courses as needed.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of topics in the German speaking world, including personal relationships, free time activity planning, giving advice, technology, holidays, food preferences, and making a difference in one's community.
  • Practice grammar topics from the German speaking world such as 'Zu' Construction, simple past tense, genitive case, subjunctive II, and relative pronouns.
  • Display comprehension in Germanic literature, excerpts from novels, short stories, fiction, nonfiction and informational texts.
