This course is designed to involve students in educational and occupational orientation (as related to self) and to make valid educational choices. Participants have an opportunity to investigate employment opportunities in their field of interest. The college selection process is reviewed and an appropriate curriculum for students' majors will be developed.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Evaluate potential career paths by researching industry needs, job responsibilities, required qualifications, and growth opportunities.
  • Analyze personal interests, skills, and values to align with potential career options and articulate how these traits influence their career decisions.
  • Create a professional resume and tailored cover letter that effectively highlights their skills, experiences, and career objectives.
  • Demonstrate effective networking techniques by engaging with professionals in their field of interest while practicing appropriate workplace communication and etiquette.
  • Develop a detailed career action plan, including short-term and long-term goals, steps to achieve these goals, and strategies for overcoming potential challenges.
