This course will explore human values and individual beliefs within a constantly changing environment, community relationships, technological networks, the ethical dimensions of work and a meaningful personal life-style. This course satisfies a general education requirement in the Arts and Humanities Area.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Explain interrelationships among the units: change, community, work and leisure, ethics and technology.

  • Analyze how their lives have been affected by issues discussed.

  • Apply humanities principles to vocational and avocational endeavors.

  • Explain how humans over time throughout the world have experienced similar challenges and have held similar hopes.

  • Apply themes from works by poets, essayists, historians, short story writers, and novelists to their lives.
