ECE 290 - Early Childhood Program Administration

This course provides basic principles involved in setting up and administering an early childhood program. Emphasis will be placed on funding, enrollment procedures, curriculum planning, staff and parent relationships, problem solving and record keeping. State of Iowa day care center licensing standards and regulations will also be reviewed.

Prerequisite(s): ECE 133 , ECE 193 , ECE 158 , and ECE 103

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Develop a comprehensive early childhood curriculum model.

  • Identify problem solving strategies to use with parents and staff.

  • Implement the State of Iowa day care center licensing standards and regulations.

  • Organize and maintain a record system for finances, child, and staff records.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the role of an administrator.

  • Implement a comprehensive early childhood curriculum model.

  • Facilitate staff training and supervision.
