A survey course of basic geographical knowledge. Students will be introduced to geographical principles and concepts thus providing them with the tools to study both physical and human geography. This course satisfies a general education requirement in the Cultural/Historical Perspectives Area.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Compare, contrast and explain the criteria for the concepts of 'realm' and 'region' in the study of geography.

  • Identify and explain the relationship between the physical and human landscape.

  • Define and describe physical geography and its subcategories.

  • Define and describe human geography and its subcategories.

  • Define and describe economic geography and its subcategories.

  • Apply geographical concepts to the contemporary world.

  • Identify and explain defined geographic ideas, concepts, and basic theories that define the discipline.
