This course gives students a historical and philosophical foundation of the field of early childhood education, includes an overview of assessment and trends that influence best practices, explores careers in the field, and addresses influences of families and diversity.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Identify the historical theorists and educators and their roles in the field of early childhood education.

  • Correlate the history of early childhood education with current trends and best practices.

  • Explain the different types of early childhood programs and their philosophies.

  • Describe the role of the early childhood professional.
