MCC Foundation

Founded in 1961 as a non-profit steward of gifts to the college, the Muscatine Community College (MCC) Foundation strives to provide that extra “margin of excellence” to college programs and facilities. Its mission is to raise, invest, and grant funds to assist with the academic, economic, and personal growth of diverse MCC populations. Through donor-directed charitable donations, the Foundation supports scholarships, programs, and facilities.

In the 2025-26 academic year, it awarded $450,000 to MCC students in tuition, fees, and books. All students are eligible and encouraged to apply. Scholarships are awarded in the Fall and Spring terms. Application deadlines are March 1st and November 1st. 

The Community

Muscatine is a thriving community on the banks of the Mississippi River, located in the heart of the Midwest’s agricultural and manufacturing industries. It is home to about 23,000 residents who share a spirit of progress and work to advance their community.

There are 96 diversified industries operating within Muscatine, including two Fortune 500 companies. The city and county boast numerous recreational activities, including water sports on the Mississippi and nearby Cedar and Iowa Rivers, an extensive park system offering swimming, baseball, tennis, cycling, a soccer complex, horseshoes, and golf. There are entertainment and cultural amenities to explore, including the Musser Museum and Art Gallery.

The College

The Muscatine campus offers Arts and Sciences transfer programs, and Career and Technical Education programs. In Fiscal 2025, more than 2,000 students were enrolled in credit programs, and thousands more were served through Continuing Education programs.

In addition to the campus, we offer programs and classes at the Muscatine Agricultural Learning Center, The Button Factory, Muscatine Career Advancement Center, Muscatine Technology Center, and the West Liberty Center.

While many students enroll directly out of high school, the average age of students is 24. More than 80% of all students attend classes part-time.

According to Alumni Association records, almost 80% of MCC graduates continue to live and work in Iowa. Others have found employment across the U.S. and abroad.

Student Programs

Student life at MCC is active, fun, and full of opportunities. Join a student organization, or take part in activities, like campus-wide picnics and outings. Student Services also offers a series of activities for non-traditional students and families. Here’s a list of campus clubs active in 2024-25:

• Ag Tech Club:  Enrolled full-time in the Farm Management program?  Our organization helps you develop leadership skills and build a deeper understanding of agricultural production, economics, current events, and related lines of agricultural work. Participate in state and National Professional Agricultural Student Organization activities and career-building skill assessments.

• AKOP (All Kinds of People): We acknowledge and welcome people from every background, lifestyle, culture, gender, mental and physical abilities, sexual orientation, and spiritual and/or religious beliefs. We embrace people’s differences, learn from each other, and recognize and promote diversity and equality within the community.

• Alpha Mu Sigma: Our chapter focuses on community needs and local projects, especially those tied to agriculture. At MCC, you get to prepare for a career in agriculture and the civic responsibilities that go with it. Fundraising, guest speakers, networking within the industry, and weekly meetings are some of the activities in which you can participate.

• Business Professionals of American (BPA): We are the leading Career and Technical Student Organization for students pursuing careers in finance, management, marketing, information systems, and other business-related fields. We focus on your professional development, providing the tools, skills, and experiences needed to compete, succeed, and thrive in the business world. BPA has more than 45,000 members in over 1,800 chapters in 25 states and Puerto Rico, and an international presence in China, Haiti, and Peru.

• CRU: CRU strengthens and unites students on their spiritual journey with Christ. Within the nationwide theme, “Let’s Journey Together,” we bring students together to grow in their faith through Bible study, fellowship, and activities. We abide by the CRU statement of faith, which can be  found on the CRU website.

•  Gray Matters Collective: We believe that mental health is health, just as physical health is health. We provide tools, knowledge, and resources to help students get the assistance they need. We create a safe and supportive community for students and space to get to know themselves and their peers better.

• LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens): LULAC is the nation’s largest and oldest civil rights organization. Join us in empowering Hispanic Americans and building strong Latino communities through programs, services, and advocacy. We volunteer with youth, further access to education, celebrate Latin culture, embrace diversity, and strive for social justice. You will develop personally, professionally, and make a difference in your community.

• Horticulture Club: Expand your horticultural interests as you dedicate time to enhancing the beauty and biodiversity of the campus and community. Participate in local and national horticulture-related conferences and competitions. Membership is open to students enrolled in a horticulture class.

• Intramurals: Our club supports student wellness and offers non-competitive opportunities to stay active. Participants enjoy fun recreational play, friendly competition, improved physical and mental well-being, and the chance to explore new sports and activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.

• MCC Silver & Blue: Our volunteer program serves people facing challenges in our community. Join us, complete 80 hours of public service over an academic year, and earn the Silver/Blue Cord Award. We are an extension of the United Way of Muscatine’s Volunteer Solutions Program.

• MCC Young Democrats Organization: Our mission is to elect Democrats, advocate for progressive issues, train the next generation of progressive leaders, and be the voice of Democrats on campus.

• MORGA: We are a recreational gaming club focused on pop culture pastimes. We gather to watch movies, anime, and play video and tabletop games. No agenda. No fundraising. Spend a couple of hours each week relaxing and having fun.

• Music, MCC Concert Choir: Join this mixed choir, open to all students. No previous experience or audition is required.

• Music, MCC Jazz Choir: We perform frequently during the year. Membership is limited to 16 students, and an audition is required.

• Phi Theta Kappa (PTK): PTK is the International Honor Society for two-year colleges. Complete at least 12 credit hours and achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher, and you’ll be invited to join. You can apply for a PTK transfer scholarship and enjoy some intellectual and personal development through programs focused on scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship.

• SCNAVTA (Student Chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America): Join and enjoy professional resources, networking, educational materials, and community involvement. Build a foundation of leadership and teamwork skills, which are integral to your future career.

• Student Ambassadors: Be a leader on campus and in our community. Be a Student Ambassador. Start as early as your first semester. You guide campus tours, assist with college marketing activities, and develop leadership and public speaking skills.

• Student Senate: We give voice to student activities and policies on campus. Help us organize campus-wide events, interconnect clubs and campus organizations, and attend meetings.

• Student Veterans Association (SVA):  We host activities including a Veteran’s Day ceremony, collections of care packages/cards for deployed military, informational events and activities with veterans from other local colleges/universities, and fundraising. We encourage mentorship and community within the military/veteran student population at MCC.

• Theatre: Participate in the exciting art of theatre. The Bob Roach Little Theatre stages a production each semester and auditions are open to all students. Or, you can work backstage in costuming, designing, lighting, makeup, props, publicity, set construction, painting, or the box office. No experience is necessary. You will make friends, have fun, and develop valuable skills all at the same time.
