Government and Criminal Justice


Prepare for careers in law, public safety and security, including professional and technical support services, with the Government and Criminal Justice pathway. Serve the public interest, ensure fundamental rights and maintain social order with compassion and critical thinking. Programs include criminal justice, cybersecurity, political science, pre-law and history.

Cultural/Historical Perspectives

History is the study of the rise and evolution of societies and civilizations. The transfer major in History provides the education and critical thinking skills for students to pursue a wide range of careers, such as education, museum work, and government. Political Science is the study of governments, public policies, and political processes. The transfer major in Political Science teaches both the humanistic and social scientific perspectives to examine the government, power, and resources are allocated in societies throughout the world.

The Transfer Majors in History and Political Science are for students interested in transferring to a four-year institution with a related major.

Criminal Justice

A commitment to public safety, well-being, and individual rights are the foundations of a career in criminal justice. Our programs are designed for a broad education emphasizing criminal justice in preparation for transfer, the intellectual and physical training needed in preparation for entering criminal justice academies, or training in preparation for immediate employment in entry level positions related to criminal justice.

Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity Specialists are responsible for securing and protecting information assets. They are required to preserve information confidentiality, integrity, availability, and authenticity. This program is designed to develop a skilled workforce in the expanding field of cybersecurity. It is based on the concepts, principles, methods, techniques, and procedures recommended by industry-specific programs.
