HIT 440 - Quality Management

This course provides an overview of supervision and management activities in a health information department. Focus is placed on a team approach toward the achievement of both departmental and organizational goals. Students will participate in problem-solving activities, committee activities and development of technical writing skills. Emphasis is placed on activities relating to planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and budgeting in an HIM department. Additional topics include performance improvement monitors, utilization management, risk management principles, and QA (Quality Assurance) activities pertaining to JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) accreditation survey. 39.6 Lec.
