EMS 238 - Advanced Emergency Medical Technician

The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Course is based on the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards & Instruction Guidelines which is the National Standard Curriculum for EMS Education which is the foundation of knowledge and skills of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will obtain the AHA Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Stabilization certification, and is eligible for the National Registry of Advanced Emergency Medical Technician practical and written examinations. Upon successful completion of the National Registry examinations, the student will receive a National Registry Advanced Emergency Medical Technician certification, and a State of Iowa Advanced EMT certification. 217.8 Lec. Prerequisite(s): EMS 202 . Must possess a current American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider CPR card which validates training in obstructed airway, AED and CPR for adults, children, and infants. Must possess a current State of Iowa EMT-Basic or Iowa EMT-Intermediate/85 certification.
